What to do in Central Oregon?
Activities abound in Central Oregon.
You can enjoy activities such as hiking, camping, fly-fishing or bait
fishing, horseback riding, rock climbing, biking, golfing, boating,
skiing, and snowmobiling, to name just a few. Sisters, aside from
the stunning view of the snow-capped Three Sisters Mountains and the
Cascade Mountain range, is surrounded by trails, rivers and streams,
pristine lakes, wilderness areas, scenic drives and vistas, and
towering forests of Ponderosa Pines.
You could go mountain biking on the
Deschutes River Trail or the loop around Newberry Crater; camp at one
of many Oregon State Parks; rock climb at Smith Rock State Park;
fly-fish or bait-fish at one of the more than 150 high-mountain lakes
or 500 miles of rivers and streams; play a round of golf at one of the
public, semi-private, private, and resort courses in Central Oregon,
including Bend, Sunriver, Black Butte Ranch, Aspen Lakes golf course
in Sisters, and Redmond; hike the Pacific Crest Trail and
hundreds of miles of the most varied scenery and terrain in the
Northwest; go for a horseback ride at any one of the riding stables and
resorts offering guided rides. Black Butte
Ranch, Eagle
Crest Resort, The
Inn of the 7th Mountain, Long
Hollow Ranch, Bitter Brush
and Sunriver
Resort; enjoy water sports such as swimming, waterskiing,
kayaking/canoeing/boating, whitewater rafting; experience the thrill of being
pulled by a team of Alaskan Huskies or go alpine or cross-country
skiing, snowboarding, and snowshoeing.
You can shop at antique stores, art
galleries, crafts, clothing, and specialty shops in Sisters and a short
drive takes you to Bend’s River District offering galleries and
shops along the banks of the Deschutes River or seek out quaint antique
shops in Redmond.
Dining options in Central Oregon
range from drive-through fast foods and casual restaurants to some of
the Northwest’s most elegant resort dining.
